One of the latest movies doing the popularity charts in Bollywood has been the Ajay Devgan led multi cast film Cash. As the name indicates this movie is all about a chase for cash and money. The setting is quite different as people are used to watching in typical Bollywood masala movie. The back ground provides for top notch intelligent and tech savvy hardcore criminals, who travel business class, wear the best of contemporary fashion, drive Mercs and discuss business deals over champagne.

The directorial venture of Anubhav Sinha who is now quite known in the Bollywood circles for making off beat commercial movies that provide for a distinct flavor and touch, Cash has however failed to let the cash boxes at the movie box office ringing. In spite of an impressive start, the film has failed to take off as expected and could not sustain the momentum for long.
Besides Ajay Devgan, Zayed Khan, Arjun Rampal, Ritesh Deshmukh are the other male leads in the movie Cash. The female stars include Esha Deol, Diya Mirza and Shamita Shetty. Music by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani is fast and sleek. The songs are lively and the “Naa Poocho” track is certainly one of the more lively ones in the movie. In fact, besides action that is the main strong point of Cash, it is music alone that can hold the attention of the audiences.
The performance of Ajay Devgan as expected is one of the highlights ion the movie. In fact, as an actor Ajay has evolved and matured beyond recognition. The action and comedy scenes that he does with ease are simply impressive and needs to be talked about. Sunil Shetty as a hardcore criminal again is quite impressive and innovative in his performance too. Zayed Khan and Ritesh along with Esha as the friends of Ajay who has one of the coolest brains in the business however fail to impress.
The plot of the movie is simple and presentation is steady and good. The strength of the movie Cash lies in its fast paced action and music with bits of comedy thrown in, especially by Ajay Devgan. This two and half hour movie provides for a wholesome entertainer if one is looking for watching an entertainer while munching popcorns and not exactly making comparisons with movies of the same genre.
Cash is fast paced action movie that provides for a good wholesome entertainment. However, music has got its limitations and fails to hold attention of the audiences. The action part however, is stimulating and is impressive. The performances of Ajay and Sunil are cool and on the expected line though Esha and Diya Mirza could have done better. Samita Shetty though has very little to show in the movie while the rest of the characters have not much scope to excel. All in all, action and Ajay Devgan are the main USP of the movie Cash and could be seen only because of them. |
