Cheeni Kum had few songs and the title track was the one that became the most popular one. The song and the film had appropriate title as the story had Amitabh Bachchan playing the role Buddhadev Gupta who is a chef at a restaurant in London. He is very meticulous and perfectly creates recipes and the dishes and no one can find faults in them. He meets Tabu who plays the role of Nina Verma who is a very successful middle aged software engineer. Their meeting begins with a tussle over a dish and then they gradually come together by daily interaction. Things take a new turn when they fall in love with one another and Amitabh has to go to Tabu's father to ask for her hand. The main problem arises when it is known that Tabu's father played by Paresh Rawal is younger than Amitabh. He refuses to get her married but the movie ends in Paresh Rawal finally relenting to the match.
