Dil To Pagal Hai is a Bollywood movie that was released on 1997 that depicts the affairs of three dancers in a musical dance troop. Directed by Yash chopra the film stars Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor and Akshay Kumar in guest appearance. Initially, the film was first named"Maine To Mohabbat Ki Hai." Dil To Pagal Hai is the first Bollywood movie to be shot in Baden-Baden, Germany. The movie was the second highest grosser movie for the year 1997. Shahrukh Khan or Rahul is a dancer and also the director of a successful music and dance troupe.

He believes that Nisha or Karisma Kapoor, who happens to be one of his dancers of the troupe is his best friend. Nisha also acts like his crony, but she is secretly in love with him.When Nisha suddenly injures her foot, Rahul begins his search for new dancer. After a violent search he hires Pooja or Madhuri Dixit.
Pooja and Rahul are increasingly attracted towards each other, but they act as if it were not happening. Pooja, with out the knowledge of Rahul, is already engaged to Ajay or Akshay Kumar. Ajay is the son Pooja's family friends who raised her when her parents were killed. But she is aware of the fact that her romance with another man would be disgraceful, and also will be a disappointment to her auntie and uncle. Hence despite everything she wants to marry their son. So, she tries to maintain a distance from Rahul. Rahul is completely puzzled by Pooja's attitude and so does not push matters. Nisha, however, senses everything and is sharpened by jealousy. Thus begins the drama in Dil To Pagal Hai.
Rather than try to stop this affair, Nisha decides to leave India for a time and let matters take their course. The trailers of Dil To Pagal Hai focussed mainly on the trio, Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor as they are the primary attractions of the film. The next emphasis was on the dance sequences. As all the major characters of the film are directly related to this art form. All the three are shown as dancers. Shahrukh Khan is, in fact, the director of a dance troupe. The meeting of Rahul and Pooja, is also directed through dance. The next important thing that is highlighted in the trailers are the soundtracks of the movie.
The songs of Dil To Pagal Hai was a huge success. The film has in fact contributed greatly to the film. The concept of frienship, specially between a boy and a girl in the Indian context is revised. It gives rise to new ideas of friendship and also becomes emblematic for sacrifice in love. Akshay is an additional bonus for the film. Shooted in Germany, the film also has some amazing and picturesque locations. |
